Volunteer Coordinator, William Way Center, Philadelphia (Posted February 10)

The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, trains, supervises and coordinates the work of approximately 300 volunteers. Evening and weekend hours are required.

Responsibilities:
1.Recruit volunteers through in-house publications; media outreach, and fair outreach.

2.Conduct monthly volunteer
orientation and required follow-up.

3.Meet personally with each volunteer at least twice a year

4.Coordinate birthday, holiday, and life-event cards for volunteers

5.Coordinate volunteer recognition event(s)

6.Serve as the program staff member for most volunteer-staffed programs, including PhilaVentures, Archives, and Front Desk. This includes attending meetings, facilitating group work, ensuring implementation and operation, and evaluating outcomes.

7.Coordinate and manage the Center’s monthly in-house mailing project, the Volunteer Velada

8.Identify volunteers with employers who may offer volunteer-service grants and keeping track of volunteer hours to fulfill these grants.

9.Coordinate Center’s volunteer participation in staffing Lincoln Financial Field Concession Stands

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required
•Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices.
•Friendly, personable and warm personality
•Proficient administrative skills, including organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
•Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
•Familiarity with databases, including designing and running queries, as well as merging data.
•Familiarity with creating marketing materials including flyers, press releases, and invitations.
•Ability to make decisions independently as well as to execute assignments of administrative detail as delegated.

Work Environment
The Volunteer Coordinator works in a main office that includes significant foot traffic and continuous interruptions. The Volunteer Coordinator has access to confidential information and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of this information. This is a part- time position requiring evening and weekend work.

Work experience requirements:
•At least one year experience in nonprofit environment.
•At least one year volunteer coordination experience
