PNA is hiring a Development and Youth Networking Assistant to the Director, to
• Recruit students and youth for the Ban All Nukes Generation Network.
• Build links among the Youth Network and other anti-nuclear youth.
• Recruit, motivate and train volunteers.
• Solicit appropriate prospective donors.
• Create, review and evaluate reports.
• Ensure compliance with agreed upon plans, methods and procedures.
• Work with Board members and officers, as requested by the Director.
• Assist to develop, review and get approval of fundraising strategies and materials.
• Coordinate and set up meetings of staff, the Board, and Exec. Committee.
• Supervise and assist student interns in developing and obtaining college and community speaking appearances and collaborations for the chairman, director, assistant, and interns.
• Supervise video conferences and dialogues with Global Educational Motivators and/or other providers.
• Collaborate on film projects and other media, such as radio, TV, and webcasts for PNA, including the Starr Climate Change Film Project.
• Design creative projects, such as Concerts, Art Expos, and Street Theater.
Major areas of development responsibility may include:
• Donor Database Management
• Donor Development and Relations
• Annual Appeal Campaign
• Foundation and Corporate Solicitation; Legacies
• Publicity and Promotion

S/he will work with the Ban All Nukes Generation Youth Network—college, high school, and post-graduate youth who are committed to the mission of creating a world free of nuclear weapons. grass-roots organizing, and Congressional education campaigns. Her/his advice and guidance will be sought in the course of such organizing and campaigns. S/he will also be a PNA spokesperson as needed. Recent graduates are welcome. The interview process will begin on April 2, 2009, and the position will begin on or about May 15, 2009, or sooner if agreed.

The Assistant is an at-will position for the Project for Nuclear Awareness, a national organization, in the Philadelphia office. S/he is hired by the executive director, after consultation with the chairman, the president, and the finance vice-chairman.

The compensation for this position is dependent on level of ability, experience in nuclear and international affairs, and suitability for the specific tasks noted. The hours will begin at twenty-five hours per week, and will increase to thirty-five hours, with an hour off for lunch, upon completion of a provisional period, if the work is mutually satisfactory. Health benefits are included, after the provisional period, which may be from 60 to 90 days.

The Assistant will serve in a provisional capacity until September, 2009. If there is mutual agreement, beginning September, 2009, the Assistant position will be renewable year-to-year contingent on funding availability. As an at-will employee, the Assistant serves at the pleasure of the executive director and chairman of PNA. If the Assistant is successful in seeking and obtaining grant(s) of $50,000 or greater for PNA in the first year, s/he is eligible for a bonus depending on the size of the grant(s). Merit bonuses may also be considered, for especially outstanding work. After the first six months of employment, the employee will merit paid vacation leave of no fewer than two weeks/ year.
